The Brillance of Homeopathy

“There have been two great revelations in my life. The first was bebop, the second was homeopathy.” Dizzy Gillespie, jazz musician

When my brother John was at our farm, a bee stung him on his eyelid causing pain and rapid swelling. Based on past experience he fully expected his eye to be swollen shut for the next few days. I gave him the homeopathic remedy Apis and within 20 minutes the pain and swelling had completely disappeared and there was no sign of the bee sting. This is an example of the remarkable efficacy of homeopathy.

In 1976, a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, originated the homeopathic system of medicine based on the principle “like is cured by like” and known as the Law of Similars. Like Hippocrates two thousand years earlier, Dr. Hahnemann realized that there were two ways of treating ill health – the way of opposites and the way of similars.

Take for example a case of insomnia. The way of opposites is to treat this condition by giving a drug to bring on an artificial sleep. This frequently involves the use of large or regular doses of drugs, which can sometimes cause side effects or addiction. The way of similar, the homeopathic way, is to give a minute dose of a substance, which in large doses would cause sleeplessness in a healthy person. Surprisingly this will enable the patient to sleep naturally. Because of the minute dosage, no side effects or addictions result.

Homeopathy is a gentle, deeply healing system of natural medicine. It treats the whole person: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually in both acute and chronic conditions. Homeopathic remedies are safe, non-toxic and specifically suited to the patient. Each remedy is selected according to the patients’ own individuality, reactions, hereditary profile, family and social environments. Very small doses are used to stimulate the body’s innate ability to heal itself. In this way, homeopathy heals and strengthens the whole person and helps prevent future illness by finding and treating the root cause of disease, rather than suppressing symptoms.

Homeopathy is the second most practised medicine in the world and plays a significant role in the health care systems of many countries today. In France approximately 42% of the country’s physicians use homeopathy in their practice, and in Britain, the Royal Family has their own homeopathic physician and have used homeopathy since 1830.

Homeopathy recognizes that all disease (dis-ease) stems from an energetic disturbance, usually caused by an emotional disturbance at some point in the patient’s life. Homeopathy treats the energetic disharmony responsible for the symptoms the patient is experiencing. Once the energy block is lifted, a profound sense of well-being occurs as the entire system is restored to a state of health.
