Hello, I wanted to say how much I loved Joan Weirs class. After spending the day with her my perspective was changed for the better. We need more Joan Weir through out our 3 year course, especially when trying to keep yourself together during 2nd and 3rd year. Also, today's case analysis class was very enjoyable and insightful. We are blessed to have Lisa so much in 3rd year. Especially with the CHO classes. No matter the subject of the class, I always leave feeling inspired. That's all :)

Regarding my first weekend in classes, I could very simply say AMAZING, but that does not bring justice to the true feeling and experience that I had last weekend. I am not sure that I can truly encompass with words how profoundly at home I felt, from the moment I began my journey with CCHM, from speaking of it as a possibility, from my interview, and from my first weekend of classes. I must say that the journey to this moment of feeling like I am exactly where I am meant to be. In this present moment has been long and quite tough, but this weekend I came to see that my mountains, my storms, they have lead me to the most magnificent place - a place where I can learn to help myself, and to also carry the knowledge to help others, and a feeling that has overtaken my heart that to be frank, I cannot label with a word or even a phrase. When I arrived at the campus, and I stood outside the building, I read the words that were written overhead the entrance "the truth shall set you free"- and I pondered outside before my first class about how powerful those words were. Powerful in themselves and in how much strength it brought into my heart - and an immeasurable desire to learn and grow in every way. That I may take from this new road that I wander - a road where I once walked before (in another country) and where my heart was filled with passion - I have made my way home and I am more then delighted to be back in school following my passion, feeling that motivation and drive back in my heart and soul.
My first class, it was so intriguing, to meet a group of such diverse people, of ethnic backgrounds, and educational differences - to feel this beautiful energy in this room and to be a part of it again, goes without words. I felt instantly welcomed, and even made some new connections and friendships that I know will truly blossom, for in this room were people with spirits that can feel and search for what most cannot. Most cannot accept that what we cannot see can still be true, and it was wonderful to find myself not in a room of people who do not have this ability, but rather to be with a group of many who are opening to this idea, some more advanced into the true uniqueness of homeopathy.
I found that my background, and all of my studies abroad, really showed inside of me and gave me a confidence in myself and the knowledge which I already hold; a confidence I didn't have at such a deep level when I was overseas and years younger. Perhaps it is with time and maturity that this confidence came about, or through the many hours I spent shadowing various practitioners in other forms of natural healing. For me, I like to think of each patient as a white canvas- and rather than painting what I see or feel, I allow each patient to paint their own canvas in listening without pre-judgment or assumption that they are like any other patient, and that because they paint their own canvas. They are then just like each homeopathic remedy in the idea that they all have a unique canvas and thus a unique fingerprint just like each remedy that we will learn and continue to learn about through life.
I truly enjoyed all classes and took away much new knowledge and also a different perspective - it is interesting to learn now in a country where they are trying to eliminate homeopathy, when I come from a country where they fought and have gained and earned the respect that homeopathy so deserves - it gives me something extra to my understanding and it makes me want to fight to bring awareness, to even help join allopathy and homeopathy to work together, as my true belief is that if all practitioners could work together, we would better help each patient with their struggles - perhaps this is a long shot to many, but I have witnessed it in Switzerland and will carry this value with me throughout my studies and the encounters I have with people from such diverse backgrounds. Now that I have written yet another page in my story, I hope you can truly feel and see how much my first weekend of classes has brought into my life and all of those who are around me, friends and strangers alike. Thank you for taking the time to ask about my first days, and experience of so. Again this shows that this school is more then an educational institution- and that is why I have searched for so long to return to my studies- this atmosphere does not come easy to find.

"I have been learning quite a lot with trying to understand The Organon from Joe's lecture series and there is much truth about the way that our modern allopathic medicines are designed to work within the human body. Medicines acting as poisons and the dissimilarity of disease in the body had me in such deep thought last night that I woke up, I think I am mentally preparing myself for the upcoming essay of comparing homeopathy vs allopathic essay! It’s making me really think about what medicine is, what it can be used for and how medicine has not really changed in the last 200 years since Hahnemann wrote the 6th edition. "I have been self practicing and reading about homeopathy for many years, but in following the CCHM distant Ed program for only one month, I have surpassed my previous experience. I had an entangled ball of yarn in my hands that I didn't know how to unravel. Now, with the help of the CCHM syllabus, everything is nicely laid out before me. "I have enjoyed year 1 (close to completing now) in my Homeopathy course since I am in a remote location and not at all near Toronto to attend face-2-face; it is most convenient. The flexibility of having no specific deadlines laid down is wonderful since the unexpected happens and certainly for me, in retirement, I want to have flexibility to do what I can when I can and how I choose. I am fairly disciplined, and extremely thorough, in my approach to my work. Being retired I will not succumb to a routine ... therefore, again, flexibility is important to me. "I honestly just love my whole learning experience at CCHM, I could not have chosen a better school. Initially, I was intimidated about being a distant ed. student without having the ability to attend classes live. However, as a 3rd year student, I can confidently say that my education has been quite well-rounded and wholesome, yet flexible enough that I can dedicate time with my family, be a soccer mom, help my husband at work, and pursue my studies! This program has been extremely suitable for my needs, allowing me to do the work on my own time and schedule, at my leisure, without the usual pressure and deadlines. The Supervisors are fantastic. I am able to hand in my assignments with quick feedbacks allowing me to proceed further into the course without any delay. Any questions or concerns are answered promptly. The whole programme is tailored in a very systematic and simplistic approach, facilitating comprehension and analysis. Kudos to the authors of the in-house texts who have done an outstanding job with adhering to true Classical Homeopathic principles while conveying Hahnemann's message with remarkable fluency. In second and third year, the Clinical Externship component gives us the opportunity to take on patients directly and put teachings into practice. "I am really loving the classes, this past weekend was terrific! There is a lot to learn in A&P; however, Joydeep is such a positive individual and he explains everything so well. Jack is great – I think we all really enjoy his presentations, especially at the end when he gives out cases and we go through the rubrics in groups and try to figure out the remedy. John is very knowledgeable and even though he gives a lot of information – one leaves the class wanting to read/study even more. Each teacher is presenting the core information, but they all have a unique approach and it really keeps it interesting. "I graduated from the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine, formerly known as the Toronto School of Homeopathic Medicine, in 1998. The school offered me in-school clinical experience with Master Homeopaths. We were allowed to observe their case-taking techniques and were encouraged to actively discuss their cases, the treatments prescribed and the expected outcomes. As a new graduate, my expectation was to start my own practice and I felt sufficiently prepared to do so. I started my practice right after graduation and by end of the first year, I had a full-time practice. However, I must emphasize that Homeopathy is best served by taking the path of life-long learning. The Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine model of teaching lays a solid foundation of knowledge and clinical practice; and, it is upon this foundation that I, as a practitioner, have built upon my own practice over the years."

"I am a strong advocate of promoting growth in the homeopathic profession. As a 2010 graduate of CCHM, I believe that I gained substantial and significant benefit from observing competent and experienced (a minimum of five years of clinical experience) homeopaths taking live cases. The process of taking thorough case notes, writing up a complete case analysis, and submitting case work to the same clinical homeopath was essential to my learning process. Case analysis was marked based on noting characteristic and significant symptoms, providing a differential analysis of homeopathic remedies, and finally, on a treatment plan. The process is thorough, detail-oriented, and provides a learning experience that mirrors practicing in the homeopathic profession following graduation.
Since graduation I have learned with certainty that while taking an initial consultation may be challenging, the true "art" of homeopathy (and the area of greatest difficulty) is really in case management upon follow-up appointments. Through my observation of master homeopaths at CCHM, I learned in great detail, how to succinctly and objectively analyze remedy choices upon follow-up appointments - and became confident in my ability to determine the relative success of my remedy choice ... Without this style of consistent, hands-on clinic time, I truly believe that many homeopaths would find case management and patient care to be an extremely challenging undertaking. I am grateful to have experienced such an in-depth and individualized education.

"My experience at the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine has been wonderful from the first day that I spoke with the Registrar of the College, a lovely lady named Andrea. I felt so comfortable talking with her and knew in that moment that this was the place for me. The next step was talking to the Dean, Raymond Edge. I took to Ray right away with his soft spoken nature and gentle unthreatening way.
Before I knew it I was in school and thinking to myself, "I can't do this!" Being the mother of four children and having turned 40 that year, I thought my brain couldn't possibly handle all of this information. Well, I way so wrong because each weekend that I was at school turned out to be easier and that information that I was learning was truly astounding. The professors at the College all have their own unique way of teaching and I have learned so much from them.

Joe (Kellerstein) was raw and real. He told of beautiful stories and showed with perseverance you will move the case! I appreciate his honesty.

"This information is for someone considering whether to become a distance learning student versus an "in class" student at the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine. Let me first say that I have done it both ways; as a distance student in year one, and as an in-class student travelling 4 hours (one way) for years two and three. Let me admit, the energy it takes to do the in class (and driving) is daunting! I do feel however that it was well worth it. The cumulative input and contribution of 25 classmates plus the knowledge and experience of an instructor is incredibly valuable. I learned exponentially more in class than I could have learned at home, and gained connections and friendships not possible via distance learning. In the end, I would not have done it any other way. Since I have the advantage of having done it both ways, I can tell you with utmost certainty that in-class studies create a much more effective learning environment."

Living in Windsor, this type of education was not available in my city; however, I was so fortunate that there was a school available in Toronto for me to attend. Having transferred from another school, I completed Year 2 Distance Program and while it was very well done and I definitely learned lots, it didn't compare to the training/learning that I received "in classroom for Year 3". It's easy to become unmotivated and distracted when working on your own and you lose the camaraderie, ability to ask questions, learning from other's questions, and the insight provided by the superb professors who are able to share from their own experiences (particularly valuable was the insight shared by Joe after clinic cases).
It was well worth the effort to make the trek into Toronto and the knowledge and experience gained from being in class is incredible and unmatched. Additionally, I developed life-long friendships and professional relationships with classmates that continue to be a huge asset when in practice since I never feel like I'm out there on my own."

"Deciding whether to participate in distance learning or distance travel?
Originally I enquired about doing my schooling with the distance program option as I live in the States (about a 2 hour drive from CCHM). I wanted to visit the school to get more information and to see the classes in action before I decided to invest my hard earned money. I enjoyed my visit so much I decided to try to attend the twice monthly sessions in person. I am so glad I did! It was wonderful to be away from home and its’ distractions and to focus entirely on learning new skills with others who share the same interest and joy of discovery I did! I came to rely on that time away to focus, discover new skills and to be able to interact with my teachers on a one to one basis.
There is also good value to the back and forth of dialogue that occurs often in a classroom atmosphere which is just not possible in distance learning. The classes have a variety of students, some were new like me, and others had varied training in other modalities. A few of the students were practicing homeopaths but were interested in the formal training and certification.
I was very pleased I had made the right decision, I enjoyed the drive as a time to enjoy music, my own thoughts and to listen to Homeopathy tapes. It was the right decision for me and certainly worth considering if you live within a drivable distance. The City of Toronto, where the classes take place, is also a very enjoyable way to spend your weekend after classes! "

"Most recently I had two patients that came into my office requiring a lot of attention and energy. One patient took about 6 hours in order for me to get his full case. It was during the case-taking I remembered what Dr. Joan Weir had taught us about remaining rooted and about energy frequencies. I put into practice my own self-wisdom, all of which I had learned from Joan. What transpired was beyond my belief.
Patient number one returned "cured". He said I gave him his life back. (chief complaint was chest, neck and head pain along with anxiety and deep fear rooted in his wife's recent miscarriage) . He actually looked vital and was smiling and said I had created a space of understanding for him and he just felt better.
The second patient was over the phone and said an immense sensation of peace overcame her. I contacted Dr. Weir about my experiences and she got in contact with me right away.
